A collection of beautiful treasures for you, your home, gifting and entertaining.
Our story
For as long as I can remember I have loved visiting second hand stores, op shops, vintage stores and garage sales. The eclectic nature of the objects that were for sale, their story and imaginings of where they came from and how they could be used to style a space or modified and used in a different way was exciting to me. I love the uniqueness of these stores, the one-off pieces, the treasures. I wanted to create a store that inspires, where old and new meet up-cycled and vintage. A store that you can walk around a few times and still see something new each time. I love finding those eclectic stores and would spend hours in the vintage and antique stores of Sydney and would seek them out when I travelled. I wanted to bring something to the Mid North Coast, to Laurieton and the Camden Haven that would be different and give people a chance to explore and hopefully find that perfect gift, treasure for themselves or styling element or furniture piece for their home.
When I was little I remember Dad taking us on trips to the re-use centre and the excitement of what treasure may be found. That and garage sales dad loved. Mum would visit this cane furniture store in QLD, the store was a converted house with wooden floorboards and beautiful pieces of cane furniture, I still have the white bookshelf that mum brought me; its been styled and well used for over 25 years. I love the quality and timelessness of cane and rattan furniture and up-cycled hardwood and timber furniture pieces and wall shelves.
From almost a decade and a half of running a wedding and event business on Sydney’s Northern Beaches my collection of treasures has grown from fitting into a backyard shed to filling a 180 square metre warehouse.
The collection has been used to style weddings and themed parties, stylists have hired from our range to style special events and photo shoots for brands such as Peter Alexander, Gucci, Lulu Lemon and Nespresso.
After taking the time to go through 15 years of collecting and sourcing we are now offering some of these treasures for sale. The store will be a collection of items; vintage, pre-loved, upcycled, handmade and new for you, your home, gifting and entertaining.
A mix of new, vintage, hand-made, up-cycled, pre-loved/ second-hand furniture, decor and art.
Our store is a treasure trove…
The Bowerbird // Bower On Lake
It took months to come up with the name and many family members contributed to ideas. In the end it was my mum who came up with Bower on Lake. So what’s in a name?
The Bowerbird which is also the image used alongside the name is known for collecting special objects for it’s nest (home), namely blue objects. We think the Bowerbird is the perfect symbol for our store; a collection of treasures to style your home (bower). I’ve taken the word Bower to mean nest (home) and we are the bowerbirds who have collected and curated our range so that you may be able to find that special piece your Bower/ your home.
We have Bowerbirds in and around Laurieton and the Camden Haven and there are many people who also come to the area for bird watching. Did you know that at Diamond Waters Eco Retreat they have a custom made bird watching house on Queens Lake.
On Lake - well, the store is located on Lake Street in Laurieton.
“Dopamine decor is real, it’s finding pieces you love, treasures that bring you joy and styling your nest (Bower). Your home is your sanctuary, a joyful place to be… and as you change, your style may change and then you can re-imagine and refresh. When you combine old with new you help the environment and create a meaningful, beautiful space that is as ever evolving as you are”
“Dopamine decor! if it brings you JOY, get it!”
